A One-Day National Seminar on “Social Concept in Kanakadasa’s Literature” was organized by Kanakadasa Chair & Kanakadasa Research Centre, Mangalore University, Mangalagangotri in association with Nalanda College of Arts and Science, Perla, Kasaragod on 18th August 2026 at the College Auditorium. The seminar was held as a Kannada-Malayalam Bilingual Seminar.
In the inaugural session, the Welcome Address was delivered by Sri. Varshith K., Assistant Professor in Commerce. The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Kabbinale Vasantha Bharadwaj, Scholar, Mysore. Dr. Dhananjaya Kumble, Coordinator, Kanakadasa Research Centre, Mangalore University delivered the Keynote Address. The inaugural function was presided over by Sri. Kajampady Subrahmanya Bhat, Honorary Advisor, Governing Council, Nalanda College. Sri. Satishchandra Bhandari Kolaru, Member, Governing Council was the Guest of Honour and Dr. A. Mohana Kuntar, Principal was present. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mrs. Ashwini K.B., Assistant Professor in Commerce.
In the first session, Dr. Varadaraja Chandragiri, Puttur and Sri. Payyannur Kunhiraman, Renowned Translator delivered expert talks on Kanakadasa’s literature and its social relevance.
The second session was dedicated to Research Paper Presentation by Young Scholars, presided over by Mrs. Disha A., Assistant. Professor Dept. of Kannada. Five scholars – Ms. Reeshma P.S., Mr. Dushyanth, Ms. Prajna N.B., Ms. Vinutha K. and Ms. Ayshath Isana presented papers on various dimensions of Kanakadasa’s life, philosophy and Keertanas. Following the presentations ,a quiz competition was conducted for both malayalam and kannada students , which received enthusiastic participation.
The Valedictory Ceremony was presided over by Dr. A. Mohana Kuntar, Principal, in the presence of Mrs. Vineesha S.V., Assistant. Professor Dept. of Malayalam.
The programme was compered by Ms. Anupama P., Assistant Professor in Management and Mrs. Ashalatha P., Asst. Prof. in Economics.
The seminar provided a valuable platform for academic exchange between kannada and malayalam scholars and highlighted the contemporary social relevance of Kanakadasa’s thoughts. The program concluded successfully with active participation of students and faculty .
